music videos
This is a page about the 9 anime music videos that i've made. I made these several years ago with 2 vcr's, and haven't really made any more since. They're in quicktime format, because I haven't bothered to re-encode them as Divx video, etc.. Some day i'll get better quality copies up here.
Anime: Ah! My Goddess
Singer: Sarah McLachlan
Created: Summer 1998
Size: 22MB
These first three videos were partly inspired by Marc Hairston's Nadia Trilogy.. All three videos have the same singer, but different animes. This first video suffers from rather poor quality footage. The best I could get was some often watched AMG dubs..
Anime: El Hazard
Singer: Sarah McLachlan
Created: Summer 1998
Size: 23MB
My second video, created very soon after the first one, has a bit better footage, but still a few shaky scenes.. This video was more or less directly inspired by Michael Ko's 'Once in a Lifetime' done to El Hazard.
Anime: Five Star Stories
Singer: Sarah McLachlan
Created: Summer 1998
Size: 29MB
This is the first AMV where I actually had good footage to work with. I got a VHS master of Five Star Stories from my friend St. Zero, who has the LD. It has a few in-jokes and is a little too bloody at times. I never got around to revising this video.
Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion
Singer: Tori Amos
Created: September 1998
Size: 24MB
This was my first real challenge in music video making. I remember driving to work one day and hearing this song, and a video idea just popped into my head. Since it's a full TV series I had to go and remember scenes that I could use. I tried to make an EVA video that focused on the children, not the mechs. The EVA units only appear 1 or 2 times. Thanks to Elgebar for his help on this video.
Anime: Princess Mononoke
Singer: Maire Brennan
Created: October 1998
Size: 27MB
I was looking for a series that no one had been using in AMV's to provide some variety.. I had been listening to celtic music a lot, so this song seemed a perfect fit to Mononoke Hime.
Anime: Ruroni Kenshin
Singer: Instrumental
Created: November 1998
Size: 17MB
I tried making an instrumental music video, and at first i thought it would be a lot harder. However, it turned out to be easier for me than matching lyrics with anime scenes. This song comes from the Madoka's Piano Files CD (shin kor movie).
(Wild Arms Theme)
Anime: Lupin III: In Memory of Walther P38
Singer: Instrumental
Created: November 1998
Size: 13MB
This is another instrumental piece, the intro song to the Playstation game Wild Arms. I noticed a striking similarity between this song and a certain Lupin III movie. It just begged for an AMV.
Anime: Perfect Blue
Singer: Goo Goo Dolls
Created: December 1998
Size: 21MB
First off, I didn't like this anime. That's why I had to make a music video, just to get it out of my head. This video is not particularly violent, unlike a certain AMV set to Music Box Dancer. It doesn't show violence directly, just the after effects.
Anime: Windaria
Singer: Clannad
Created: January 1999
Size: 23MB
This is first video that I know of set to Windaria. It's such an old show and a lot of the newer anime fans have never seen it. I'll warn you, it's somewhat depressing, but the show is depressing too, so what can I do? Update: I saw a very good Windaria video done to 'Edge of the Deep Green Sea' at A-Kon 2000.
